Join Jewish Historical Society of Michigan's CEO Catherine Cangany, PhD for a look at the enduring popularity of the Dearborn Independent's hate speech.

Henry Ford and William J. Cameron, editor of The Dearborn Independent
2019 marked the centennial of Henry Ford’s popular Anti-Semitic newspaper, The Dearborn Independent. Despite the newspaper's international reach and considerable backing, the Jewish community ultimately prevailed against it, exerting back-channel, public, economic, and legal pressure to shut down the paper in 1927. Despite this victory, even in 2026, the Independent's articles are still published as The International Jew. This 4-volume set serves as inspiration to modern-day extremist groups and can still be found for sale today.
